There are often times when a straightforward training intervention is not quite what you need and that is when you might want to look at REtraining's other services. For example, you might need some training material written for your managers, so that they can then train their own staff in a particular skill. Talk to us; we have written training materials for some of the industry's top organisations. Or maybe you have a focus group that must consider some difficult areas, and you need someone to make sure that the group keeps going in the right direction and achieves its objectives.Talk to us; we have facilitated groups all over the world. Or possibly you need someone to speak at one of your conferences about training or some other development need. Again, talk to us first - then we will talk to your staff.
There are times when you need to impart ideas to large numbers in a short period of time and this is when some kind of large-group presentation is what you need. Let us speak to your staff about the benefits of training and why they should take advantage of development programmes such as those offered by the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC).
When groups of experts come together to solve problems there is rarely any lack of expertise. Many groups are made up of people who have done extremely well in their chosen careers; who are used to working with others and solving problems. Maybe the last thing they need is help and advice about their area of expertise.
Yet many groups have found that the presence of a facilitator makes the whole process of group interaction work so much more effectively. Those times when the group seems to be going around in circles; when all decisions seem to be blocked; when frustration sets in and the original goals of the group seem so, so far away.
A facilitator acts much as does the catalyst in a chemical reaction. Like a catalyst the facilitator is unchanged by the process of the reaction; although involved the facilitator has a role that stands apart from that of the group’s members. By providing that additional element when it is needed, a facilitator will speed the processes of group interaction and make sure that the end result of the event is as planned.
Of course, just about anyone can write – it’s just a shame that
so few can write well. I am sure that you, like I, have struggled to understand
manuals and instructions that are complex, inaccurate and incomplete. This happens
because those who have written the instructions, expert though they might be
in their own field, lack the communication and writing skills needed to perform
an effective job of transferring that information from the task to the manual.
Writers need specialised knowledge to write manuals, of course, but they need more than that. They obviously need those skills of writing that will ensure that their work is grammatical, stylish and free of linguistic errors. They need the technical knowledge of the subject about which they are writing so that they can understand what it is about, and where its complexities lie. But even more importantly they need the insight and ability to be able to put themselves in the place of the reader who does not share their knowledge. To anticipate and to put into easily understandable words the many pitfalls and unanticipated problems that their readers will come across when they are undertaking the task for the first time.
We have that knowledge, accrued through many years of writing books and manuals for the travel industry. Choose us for your next writing project and you can be sure that it will convey your message accurately, speedily and efficiently.
