Most people who are promoted to a management position have been given the job because they have proved themselves good at an operational level. They are very effective leisure travel sales consultants or business travel experts. But management, they find, is different. The skills that served so well when making that skiing booking or that hotel reservation seem no longer to suffice. Many good operational staff become indifferent managers simply because they were unaware, when they took on the management role, that they needed to change both their thinking and their behaviour.
It is far better that those moving into a management role get trained before they take on the responsibilities and not after they have been struggling for months or even years. This course is designed to help those who are working in, or shortly to move into, a management role. The actual sessions will vary according your needs, but a typical course would include the outcomes shown here.
Anyone who is expecting to take on a management or supervisory role.
This course will enable you to practise good management techniques that will make your job easier and your staff more motivated.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Identify the basics of management
- List the stages of the management cycle
- Handle management problems
- Communicate management decisions
- Identify their leadership style
- Identify motivational factors
- Apply interview techniques
The course will incorporate a range of learning methods, all of which will include a high degree of delegate involvement. Delegates will have the opportunity to apply problem-solving techniques to their own real management situations and to agree solutions that can be applied when they return to the workplace.
